a walk in the park at night

this day

haye is 6.5 years old.
tonight is his first night away from home.
*sigh*

i am admittedly a little bit sad. i love that we have never been apart. i love that i get snuggles every night. i am lonely tonight. i have been planning this night for the past 4 months, but i still find it bittersweet. derek took haye to a sleepover at the science center in vernon. they are doing all kinds of fun things. haye just called me to tell me he rode in a gyroscope and thought he was dying. hahahaha. what a kid. they also dissected glo-sticks and had a planetarium show, and are going to watch a movie and do a bunch of other fun, sciency things.

zao is hilarious, she is waving and clapping and i am fairly certain she is saying hi. it's pretty much the cutest thing in the world. she is also a master of picking things up with her feet...we have to be careful that there is nothing that she can't chew on anywhere near her jolly jumper because she will get herself swinging and lunge to grab things. it is entertaining and fascinating. she is currently doing it to a big bird toy. many papers have been consumed because of this feat.

haye is getting dreads, slowly but surely. he has 5 so far. they are pretty cute. :)

zao is 10 months old!

can't stop the feeling

the sun is shining and haye is sitting on the couch reading. zao is on my back while i clean the kitchen to elliott smith spinning on the record player.

h: "mom?"
m: "yeah?"
h: "i think my foot likes the music. it is just shivering to it."
